IN-GAME CHAT GUIDELINES FOR FBC: FIREBREAK
Our online multiplayer game FBC: Firebreak contains an optional in-game voice chat function. Voice chat is here to help you coordinate, socialize, and enjoy the gameplay. By enabling the chat function, you agree to abide by these guidelines.
IN-GAME CHAT
The purpose of FBC: Firebreak’s chat is to help players communicate effectively, coordinate strategies and foster a fun, respectful community. To ensure the chat is a positive experience for everyone, all players are required to use the voice chat function responsibly. In these guidelines, we inform you:
- How the voice-chat works.
- What kind of behavior is acceptable.
- What kind of conduct is prohibited.
- What are the consequences of violations.
Chat Function
The chat function is an optional feature for the game which you can enable and take into use by pressing the ‘Join Voice Chat’ button. The voice chat is hosted by Unity and moderated by Keywords.
All chat communications are automatically recorded and stored for only 10 minutes before being permanently deleted, and they are not accessed or processed unless a session is specifically reported. This limited recording is made only to allow moderators to review conversations for player safety purposes if a report is made. For further information on how voice chat data is processed and stored, please refer to Remedy’s Privacy Policy.
If you encounter problematic behavior, please press the in-game Report button. Doing so will automatically save the last ten minutes of the ongoing voice chat session and everything that follows until the end of the session. This ensures enough context is available for review, allowing moderation staff to assess the situation fairly and accurately. All reports are confidential, and players are never penalized for using the reporting feature in good faith.
Players Should
We encourage our players to:
- Use voice chat for teamwork, coordination, and encouragement.
- Treat fellow players with respect, regardless of skill level or background.
- Keep communication clear, relevant, and appropriate to the match.
Players Cannot
Prohibited behavior includes, but is not limited to:
- Threatening, stalking, bullying or otherwise harassing players.
- Using language, symbols, or actions that promote hate, discrimination or violence.
- Intentionally ruining the experience of others, for example by sabotage or trolling.
- Sharing offensive or inappropriate content.
- Excessive yelling, spamming, or disruptive noise.
Because voice chat and other communications may be viewed and/or heard by other users, we strongly recommend our users avoid revealing any personally identifiable information on the chat.
Repercussion System
To maintain fairness, we use a two-tiered system of escalating consequences. Some reports are handled automatically, while others carefully reviewed by human moderators to ensure disciplinary actions are applied correctly.
- Tier One: Short Term Restriction
Players who engage in prohibited behavior in a manner which can be considered mild to moderate may be placed under temporary restrictions. This may include muting or disabling voice chat privileges for a fixed period of time, typically ranging from several matches up to a week. During this period, the player can continue to play but cannot use voice chat. This step reinforces the importance of respectful communication while still allowing participation in the game.
- Tier Two: Extended Suspension or Ban
For very severe or repeated violations, players may face extended suspension of voice chat privileges or, in the most serious cases, removal from the game entirely. Extended suspensions can last several weeks or longer, depending on the severity and frequency of offenses. Bans are reserved for persistent offenders who demonstrate no willingness to follow the community standards and/or extremely harmful and/or illegal conduct. This measure is intended to protect the broader player community from ongoing disruptive behavior and/or extremely harmful and/or illegal conduct.
Final Note
Our goal is not punishment but preservation of a fair and enjoyable environment for everyone. By respecting these guidelines, players ensure that voice chat remains a tool for teamwork and fun, rather than a source of negativity. Everyone contributes to the community atmosphere, and every voice can help make the game better.
